Me: Sounds like a fun day.

Frank: You missed a step.

Me: Do tell?

Me: Crawling a lot. I don't think he's walking yet.

Me: And, you're a girl.

Trials of a Drunk

So, I'm at my friend Stick's place. Allow me to provide some background.

I play WoW, in case you can't tell by the fact that I made a Dashboard widget based on a website related to WoW... I met a good friend of mine through WoW. His name, in game, is Bigstick. Stick is for short. I've met few people in my short time as simply honest and nice to me as Stick. That's really all there is, so enough background.

I'm at Stick's place, drunk at 3:45 am (at least 3:45 am for my customary local time of EDT). I've eaten homemade beef jerkey, homemade pickled eggs. I've drank a LOT of beer, including some home brewed stuff that Stick and friends made.

I'm here for his Haloween party this year. For those who don't know me, I'm not exactly the most "social" type. I stay home a lot (you saw the part about me playing WoW, right... so big surprise). I'm not the most comfortable going out on my own into unfamiliar situations. So, I'd say this is a big departure for me. Sure, I know Stick from online, but I've never met him in person, and he's pretty much the only person I know up here, so I'm in very unfamiliar territory.

So far, I'm having a fantastic time.

v0.2 is Out!

v0.2 is finally out. Get it here. It's not a significant change over v0.1. There's now the "back" side of the widget with proper credits and some links. The impetus to put in the last couple hours came when I got an email from a French Mac magazine, Univers Mac, asking if they could include my widget on their CD. Hooray!

Cold > me

Once again, I've got nothing done. Friday night, of a long weekend, of course, began a lovely cold. It then proceded to monkeystomp all my hopes and dreams for the weekend. It's now Thursday and I'm still getting over the damned thing. Bleh.

Time R Gud

I'm still moving toward having something worthy of calling v0.2 for my widget. Time, however, is not my friend at the moment. I only have a couple more small things to implement before it's released. Then all will be good in the world again.

Things you learn while trying to learn

So, I'm working on v0.2 of my widget and trying to learn widget development as I go. In addition to learning widget development, I learned something that I learn pretty much every time I'm learning a new language/platform. When you're trying to learn what's what and you're copying from some sample code to try to get something working, it's better to take the extra minute to understand things and not just go copy/paste crazy and screw up your whole project.
